yay for my babe!!

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, then you probably already know what I'm about to post about....

But in case you don't, here's the news!:: my little 16 month old went poo poo in the potty!!Yay!

I've always been a huge advocate of getting toddlers comfortable with the potty early on. Do I expect my 16 month old to potty train right now? Absolutely not. But I think it's a step in the right direction to get him used to the toilet and reward him when he does his "business"... I want the potty to always be a positive thing for him.

So the other day, I could tell that he was getting ready to go #2 in his diaper. You know, the usual grunting noises (sorry, TMI?). Ha ha. So I led him to the toilet, took of his diaper, plopped him on his sesame potty seat and 30 seconds later, he did his business.

Of course, I made a HUGE deal out of it saying "Yay Bennett, you went poo poo on the potty!" He clapped and giggled... he was so proud of himself. I'm well aware of the fact that he probably had no idea exactly what he was clapping for, but he was definitely excited. I got him off the potty and let him flush the toilet, he really loved that part. :)

I'm SO PROUD right now. I know it's such a little thing, but I'm sure all of you other Mama's out there can totally relate! My hope is that I can continue to get him familiar with the potty, so that when it comes time to really buckle down and train - he will already have a head start.

{his daddy calls him "slick rick" when his hair is like this. ha ha.}
And Happy Memorial Day everyone!! Hope we can all can stop and take a minute to remember those that have died while serving our nation. And to those that currently serve!! We're so grateful!

Congrats! I totally agree with getting your little one used to the potty early on, my girl was completely potty-trained, wearing underwear and everything, just a few months after she turned two, I really think that made a difference. Hope Bennett keeps up the good work!

Like I told you on twitter...I think this is AWESOME!! You're my inspiration that it can happy early and they don't have to be 5 to potty train ;) So proud of your little guy, what a big boy he is!

that's so exciting! i had to do the same thing a few weeks ago when B was about to poop in the tub... i saw the face and heard the grunt so i grabbed her, plopped her down ont he toilet and held her because we don't have anything she can use that's her size, and she went... she's done this 2 times and peed another time... but like you said, i am pretty sure she doesn't get it yet... i kinda want to buy her a baby toilet though...

Oh isn't it so wonderful when they do new things?! My son has been potty trained for a while-pee trained, still working on #2- but now he can go to the bathroom, put up the seat, do his business and flush ALL BY HIMSELF. It is like the greatest things since sliced bread! LOL i started introducing it to him around the same age ! Good job Bennett!

That's awesome! I say the earlier the better. Jackson was traumatized early on when he didn't tuck his little weenis in the potty and peed all over the place...now it's a struggle ;) Poor Katia. And poor Jack for me sharing that with everyone ;)

Such exciting news! I highly recommend potty training as early as you can. We waited until 3 with Nate and it was so tough. xo
