we bought a house. didn't we?

I keep getting questions about our house and when we're moving.. so here's what's going on!

Let me just explain.

August 12th, we put an offer in on a house. We loved it. Yes, it was a short sale but it was an approved short sale so the process had already been started. Yay.

9 days later, the offer was accepted! Awesome, right?! We had an amazing inspection, the loan went to escrow, and underwriting... all that jazz. We were SET to close September 23rd. Everything seemed normal and going according to the timeline.

One week before closing, we were informed that the loan had been sold to a different company. And that all we needed to close was for them to reissue the approval letter. We were assured that it would take no longer than 3-4 business days. Great, hunky dory. So we went ahead and signed all 1432 pages of our loan documents and were told that we should close on time.

September 22nd rolls around and we're told that the loan is still in the "review process" by the new company and we would in fact, NOT be closing on September 23rd but that it should be early the next week.

Let's just fast forward 4 weeks. Here we are in our apartment still.. without the keys to our house. Not only are almost a month past when we were supposed to close on our house, but it's been more than 20 days since we signed our loan documents so guess what? We get to go in and SIGN THEM ALL AGAIN!!!! Ugh. Did I say Ugh?

At this point in time, we have to be out of our apartment in 2 weeks. We have no idea when we will close on the house. So... pretty much we'll have to move all of our stuff to storage and find a place to stay until we get everything settled with the house.

Here's the thing. I totally get that this kind of thing happens. But what I'm most upset about is that almost a month ago, we were told "no big deal, you'll get the new approval letter in a couple of days". And every week since we keep getting told "we're working on it". That's crap. These people have a job to do. Get on it people! We have a life, and a family and can't just simply sit around for weeks or months at a time waiting for them to get their act together. All I really want is some realistic expectations. If it's going to take another month, fine. I don't like it but at least I know what to expect. I just hate being jerked around.

Sorry, my explanation turned into a full on rant. Ha ha. Thanks for bearing with me.

AND please send good thoughts and prayers that we'll close soon so we don't have to live out of suitcases for who knows how long! Eeep!

This is the worst - the waiting. To feel that it might not. I'm praying it will, and fast and soon you'll be abble to get crazy deciding decors and styles.

I've already moved several times and the worst is when hollidays are approaching and even if we were not meant to entertain, we feel like our lives are on hold while someone is studying...

Last time I moved I had my daughter's christening approaching and moved 8 days before the day. Crazy uh? But we survived and so will you.

Take Care!

Know what you SHOULD do?? Get a loan with a different company. Say you're sick of their crap and go somewhere else. It's absolutely unacceptable for banks to keep acting like that. They SOLD your loan before it was even active! It's like the housing boom all over again lol. I hate banks. Hate hate hate them! Sometimes by threatening to leave them they will snap into it too... Good luck!!

Sounds like it's time to get a little, or a lot, pushy. Remind the people you're talking to that you have a family, as you're sure they do too (gotta remind them that you are just the same as they), and how would they feel if they were in the same situation. PLAY THE PREGNANCY CARD! Ha ha ha, sometimes it works.

Ugh! You know the normal home buying process is such a B*#tch, I can't imagine the short sale process. I'm sorry you have to sign everything again, worst feeling in the world. I hope you're doing some wrist exercises.

Congrats on your pregnancy! Seems like it's in the water or air, maybe? Buying a house is such an exciting time... we were in the process but things changed so we are waiting until next year :\ but things happen in time, good luck with everything!

Ugh, indeed. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

We just went through the home buying process in April only we were also selling our first house too! Talk about stressful. They called 24 hours before we were supposed to close on both houses and told us it wouldn't be happening. I had already sent out birthday invitations to the NEW house for my son's first birthday. And I had to cancel it and call everyone to tell them it was off. I have never been so stressed in my life!

But good thing is, we're in our house now. It was all worth it but DANG! I nearly puked for two whole months going through all of this.
