Where did the name "Easton Michael" come from?

A lot of people have been asking me about Easton's name and where we came up with it.

This was a conversation we had before we even knew we were having a boy.

Here is pretty much where "Easton" came from:

Me: "Hey hun, what do you think about the name Weston?"

Philip: "Nah, don't like it much"

Me: *totally-random-and-off-the-top-of-my-head-out-of-no-where pretty much being sarcastic* "okaaaaay, how about Easton!?"

Philip: "Yah, I kinda like that name"

And that was where the name came from. When I first blurted it out, I wasn't really even being serious about it. But then once hubby told me it was "okay", it kinda stuck in the back of my mind. We had many other names that jumped to the top of our list WAY above the name "Easton". But when my little man was born and I was staring at his sweet face, Easton just surpassed all of the rest. And that's the story behind his first name. :-)

Philip and I both agree that if we give our children middle names, they need to have meaning. We've always chosen to go with family names. Bennett's middle name is "Roy" - after Philip's Dad. I love that we can keep Bennett's Grandpa's name in the family somewhere. Hopefully Bennett will pass it along, too.

And for Easton's middle name, Michael -- you might remember back in October, my sister went into pre-term labor at 20 weeks, and it was just too soon for her twin babies to be born. Her angels, Alena & Michael, passed away on October 12th, 2011. It was an extremely difficult experience for everyone. Since then, I've been searching for a truly meaningful way to honor and remember my niece and nephew. So when we were looking at the family tree for a middle name for Easton, we decided to use Michael. I wish we could have somehow used Alena's name as well. But I'm happy to be able to include their memory in Easton's name. Now, when East is older and asks about his middle name, we can tell them about their cousins in heaven.

Aww, that is so sweet!  I adore his name and think it's sweet that you guys wait to meet your babies before you name them.  I can be team green with no problem, but there's no way I could wait on a name, lol!

And it's BEAUTIFUL that you used Michael.  That made me tear up (damn pregnancy hormones!)  Did you ask/tell your sister beforehand or was it a surprise to her as well?

Like you, we use family names as middle names as well.  Carter's middle name is Robert after the hubs and his grandpa, and this baby's middle name will be after my dad (Joseph) or my grandma (Mae.)  But poor Brynnie girl, no family names worked for her so she has a random middle name.  Oh well, it's still pretty (Brynn Sophia) <3

I love his name!  If we decided to have any more kids and had a boy, his middle name would be Michael.  It's Sean's dad and his best friend's name.

Love that picture of him!

I love the name Easton. :) A coworker's son's name is Easton, and honestly if it had a good nickname I would have been tempted to use it.  (We want a name that shortens just like Krewson to Krew.)

The story behind the name Michael is awesome.  Very sweet and considerate of you.

I guess you could call him East?  (Don't worry, I'm still not going to use it. :) )

That's a funny story! The name Weston has actually been our top choice since we found out we're having a boy. Congrats, again! Easton is adorable!

I love his name! I think it is amazing that you are remembering your nephew in him. He's a beautiful baby. On another note, I know you love politics from being a reader (I don't comment too frequently as I don't have a blog myself), and I know you favor Romney. I think that it is a little sad Santorum dropped out (letter here:  http://www.ricksantorum.com/news/2012/04/message-rick-and-karen-thank-you), but hopefully Romney will be the one to defeat Obama! He definitely had the highest chance of that. Btw, this wasn't super random- I saw your twitter post and had to comment! Anyway, hope this wasn't too rambling. Enjoy your new baby!

So I absolutely love his name and the story behind it. What's crazy is that my husband's cousin's baby's (did you get that?) name is Easton Michael too! Easton is her grandmother's maiden name and Michael is her brother's name so, like you, they kept it in the family :)
He's precious by the way!
