We had originally planned on spending the 4th of July with some friends, but the day before, their little boys came down with the flu - so we decided to just hang at home and have a family day!
Philip and I started off the day weeding... fun right?? lol. And then, we washed the cars, Bennett likes to help, of course.
Bennett
mowed the lawn for us, wasn't that sweet of him?? And then he decided to take his mower to the neighbors yard and mow theirs, too. ;-)

This kid loves the pool. He doesn't mess around in there, if you come close to him, be prepared to walk away completely soaked.
Little East slept for a lot of the day, which is why he isn't in many of the photos. BUT he woke up in time for the pool party!
After we were done playing in the water, we BBQ'd hamburgers. I forgot to take pictures, but they were dang good. We bought a few little fireworks for Bennett to do... you know... pop-its and sparklers. The pop-its were a huge hit.
See below ⬇ He totally gets wound up before he throws the pop-it. By the end of the night, he was throwing them behind him, he thought it was awesome.

Superdad ⬆ right here.
Bennett's bedtime is about 7:30, and right on queue, he started to get whiny and tired. I was really hoping he'd stay up for the fireworks because our street is crazy town on the 4th, it's seriously like a war zone in my neighborhood. And right as all the neighbors were gathering together to start the fireworks, Bennett completely fizzed out and wanted to go to bed.
This is him running toward me.
So... we took him home and put him to bed at 8:30pm. He passed out as soon as his head hit the pillow and slept through the entire night. I honestly don't know how he slept through it all because it was so freakin' loud. The entire street was setting off
I snapped these from standing in my driveway. It's hard to tell from these pictures but they were the BIG beautiful, expensive fireworks. And there was no shortage of these in our neighborhood. I'm really looking forward to next year when, hopefully, Bennett will be awake for them.
As for East, he had a little harder time falling asleep, but once the street party died down, he fell asleep (around 11pm) and stayed asleep. Both kids were so exhausted that they slept in the next morning! It was a nice treat!

I really did have a wonderful holiday with my little family. It ended up being absolutely perfect! Can't think of a better way to celebrate the U.S.A! :)

The pictures of B are super cute! He looks so big and grown up! I love his outfit and those jeans! I also love how your hub has it all under control. We didn't do much baby wearing but I can only imagine what my hub would say about wearing our baby! haha
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness..those pool picture of B are adorable- love that grin! Its so nice you could enjoy those fireworks from your porch- those big ones are banned in NC unless they're done by a "professional" fireworks show- so you have to go to a baseball game or 4th of July festival to see them :( boo NC.
ReplyDeletesometimes getting chores out of the way just helps you relax! btw...the photos of B in the pool? soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteToo fun! Lily couldn't sleep through the fireworks and kept waking up saying "What's that?! Loud!" :) I kinda wanted to kill the neighbirs that kept going after we were suppose to stop at 11. I was tired! :)
ReplyDeleteLoving your pics!!! Bennett is getting SO BIG!!!!! He looks like a little boy now. Bye bye baby bennett!!!
ReplyDeleteUm, can we just go ahead and arrange the marriage of my Leila to your Bennett right now... seriously, he is the cutest little guy EVER! Glad your 4th was special! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to live in Washington, where fireworks are AWESOME and legal! I grew up in Oregon and we used to buy our fireworks in Vancouver & smuggle them back over the border (like everybody else) but now I live in California and man, its a bummer. What a bummer holiday. NOTHING is legal here! So glad you had a great day. :)
ReplyDeleteYour boys are so handsome! Looks like you guys had a fun filled day! Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeletelove the pool pics of bennett! so awesome that you can watch fire works from your driveway!!

ReplyDeletefireworks were banned here for residental/personal use unless a firefighter was present so my kiddos didnt get to enjoy sparklers and such this year but we still managed to have a good 4th. the picture of your son and that sparkler is ADORABLE though! your boys are adorableeee. glad you had a good holiday!
ReplyDeleteLove all of the photos! The pool ones are my faves!
ReplyDeleteRuari wants me to tell you this... it's about the photo with Easton's eyes closed: "His mama should let him. He wants to stand and play on the blanket and now he's sad. His feet are almost there." She said I should tell you.
