My favorite iPhone camera & editing apps..

There are thousands of iPhone apps out there, it's actually kind of overwhelming. When I first got an iPhone, I started downloading apps like crazy. But I went the craziest on photo-editing apps. Anyone else? But in the last few months or so, I've really started narrowing down the ones I actually use, and deleting the rest. I found that I kept going back to the same 5-6 apps.

I have my photo applications sorted by "accessories" and the actual "editing" applications. And looking at these folders now... I realize that I could still stand to get rid of a few of these apps. But I'll do that later.

So I thought I'd go through some of my favorites and share with you a few of these and the features I use the most!

Snapseed.
This is by far my favorite app! I use it for pretty much everything. It has all of the basic editing tools....white balance, exposure, contrast, cropping, center focus, hue/saturation, sharpening, b&w. And it has some adjustable vintage filters as well that I have grown quite fond of. But the reason why I like this app the most is that I've found that the edits look the most natural coming from this application.

Afterlight.
This was is a very close second to Snapseed. It has basically all of the same features and even a few more. It's got a ton of filters for a quick edit, but I have found that I don't use the filters very much. So that's why this is #2. But the one cool thing it does have that Snapseed doesn't, is framing options with white backgrounds that will convert right into IG format. It's very handy!

I like this app a lot for B&W's.

VSCO Cam.
I like this app a lot. I don't use it quite as often as I used to, but I still pop in here every once in a while. It's got all of the basic editing tools, but also has Fading and Vignette, which I really like. And some presets that are pretty sweet. The downside to the tools in VSCO Cam is that they aren't as customizable. Which I've found to be a little bit limiting.

PS Express.
I use this for nothing other than the noiseware portion (taking the "speckles" out of the photo!). I had to pay a little bit extra for it, but I use it quite a bit, so it's definitely worth it!

Camera +.
Yep. Another photo editing app but I actually don't use the lightbox for editing. I use this as my main camera. So, I strictly use it to snap photos. Why? Because the shutter speed seems to be quicker in this app vs. the built in camera app. And that's that. :)

iWatermark.
This is what I use to watermark photos I take on my phone (as seen above). It's pretty handy dandy.

Squaready.
I love Instagram, but they make you square all of your photos when you upload them... and sometimes I don't want to. So I use Squaready when I don't want cut off any of my picture. It will keep the original dimensions of your picture and then place it into a white square for you, and then you can easily just upload to IG straight from the app.

Collaging apps: Diptic, Photo Collage, ArcFrame, Frametastic.
I admit, I have too many collaging apps. I need to thin these out since they are all pretty similar. Most of these have plenty of framing options to choose, and allow you to adjust the colors, margins and borders. I personally prefer Photo Collage to the rest. I think. lol.

Phonto.
I use this to add text my photos! You can edit the font, color, size, orientation & style of your text.

I have several more that I use occasionally, but not enough to be considered a "favorite". What are your favorite camera/editing applications!?

I have always used hipstamatic or instagram so I have never edited photos in other apps...kind of lazy haha. I am looking forward to downloading some of those collage apps because I don't have one. I am also definitely going to download Phonto because the last app I had (which I deleted) only had about 3 font options and none of them were as cute. I love finding new apps for taking and editing photos, so thanks for putting together this amazing list!

I've been looking for an app to watermark pictures and to add text to them. Thanks so much for this post. It's exactly what I've been hoping to find! Normally I use PicStitch and Diptic for collages. I love the option on diptic to randomly choose your pictures. It always reminds me of funny things that I forgot were on my camera. :)

Awesome, definitely going to get Snapseed. Since having my first baby, i've felt guilty about using my iphone rather than my dslr for most photos, but you know what? I don't care! The photos are amazing.

Thanks for sharing, I just wish I could find a similar list/review of droid photo apps! I can't find any that seem quite as nice as the ones for iphone!

Thanks for posting this! I just downloaded IWatermark and Phonto to my SG3! Glad they have them for Android phones too. I just switched from an Iphone a few months ago. So I didn't know what apps to use! You've been most helpful! - Coupon Mom Ash
