The skinny on #Blissdom 2013

I've only ever been to one blogging conference, and it was fairly small. And it was right here in Seattle. Definitely in my comfort zone.

So I will be quite honest, and say that I am pretty nervous to attend BlissDom -- for so many reasons. First reason, it's in Dallas! I've never been to Texas and so being somewhere totally new, and traveling alone, makes me a teensy bit nervous.

Second reason, I have never met (in person) anyone that will be there. Whoa. I'm going out of town to a conference for 4 days, to hang out with a bunch of ladies I've never met. That's crazy when you say it like that. But then again, it's not really that crazy in the land of social media. We all put so much of ourselves out there for the world to see on a daily basis, so in a way, I probably know some of these people better than I know my "real life" friends.

A lot of people have asked me "What do you do at a blogging conference anyway?" I'm not a veteran conference attendee, but I CAN tell you the itinerary. So here's the skinny about what will be going down at BlissDom, packed with lots and lots of links for you to click on:

Where: Dallas, Texas. The conference will will be held Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center. This hotel looks absolutely amazing. I'm super excited to see it in person. This is also where we'll be bunking it up for 4 days.

When: March 21-24. OMgosh!! It's getting so close! (about 2 weeks away!)

Roommates: I will be sharing a room with 3 other fabulous bloggers! Meagan from Meagan's Musing, Sarah from In The Moment With, and Mindi from Simply Stavish. I've been following these blogs for so long, it will be so awesome to finally have the blogger right in front of me. Hope I don't snore, cause that would be embarrassing ;-)

What: SO much. I can't even talk about everything that will happen while we're there. But in a nutshell...

The agenda is PACKED full of goodness. There's a wide range of tracks/sessions to go to. Obviously I can't make it to all of them, but there are a few that I'm really excited about. One of the business sessions I plan on attending is called: "The Ultimate Blueprint to Personal Branding" -- this will be so beneficial to not only my personal blog, but my Photography business.

I also plan to attend a photography session called "Photographer Bootcamp" and if I have time, I will stop by "From Meh to Amazing." Hoping to really help my photography career excel with these workshops.

There are also writing and life development sessions, which are the two I will be focusing on the most. I'm looking forward to "Uninterrupted Thought: The Power of Focus" (I need this!), "Telling your Story: Authentically and without Apology", and "Living an Amazing Life".

In all of these workshops, we'll hear from the pros, in their respective fields, give us lots of awesome tidbits and advise. I really hope to listen attentively and take good notes throughout. Because I really feel like if I take this all seriously and find ways to apply it, I could leave Dallas completely inspired and with a new, fresh outlook on life, blogging, and photography.

The fun stuff: I mean, as bloggers, we tend to be fairly social people (I know, that's shocking.. j/k) So of course even though I'm attending a conference to better my blogging/business practices, I will most definitely be mixing business with pleasure. It's a must. I'm sure at first I'll be a little shy to open up to people. But believe me, there will be so many necks to squeeze and people to mingle with, that I'm sure I will break out of my shell fairly quickly. BlissDom does a good job of providing lots of fun events and social meetups.
Shortly after I arrive in Dallas, there's a Photowalk, which I really hope to attend, but we'll have to see how quickly I can get myself settled at the hotel. I'm really excited for the Newcomer Meet-up that evening, followed by the Opening Kick-off Reception. This is where I'm hoping to meet for the first time, some amazing bloggers I've been following and getting to know.

There's also a Girls Night Out on Friday night, where we'll get all dressed up and be entertained by Chris Mann. Love his voice so so much. And then on Saturday, there's a Girls Night In, where we'll all lounge in our PJ's featuring karaoke & dancing. Booya.

Oh and the Handmade Marketplace will be going on Thursday & Friday. I am excited to see what these talented bloggers are selling. I'm sure I'll have to leave extra room in my bag for some handmade goodies.

Well... that's all I've got for ya right now. Hopefully this gives you a little idea as to what exactly happens at these conferences, and why I am going!

Ta-ta!

Also, possible outfit for BlissDom? Maybe.
Also Also, I don't like my hair straight as much anymore. Curlier is better. I think.

Two things:
1)I am super jealous that you are going to Texas. You better IG like a madwoman so I can live vicariously through you.
2) I like your hair straight AND curly.

Texas is one of the friendliest places you can visit. I might be a little biased but it's true!

I'll be attending Blissdom for the first time, too. A little nervous, but also excited!

I'm totally overwhelmed about going (sort of a last minute decision!) and honestly, I haven't followed that many blogs who seem to be in attendance! I'm hoping to make some friends, though!! Thanks for posting! Also hoping to go to the business tracks :)

Hey Mandy,

I'm just reading some of your advice for Blissdom. Really good stuff. This is my first time going to a conference, so I'm hustling trying to get it all done. I wanted to reach out to you because I'm from the Seattle area too. I'm curious if we might be on the same flight. Whatever flight, it would be really fun to connect with a local. Can we plan to meet up somehow? I fly out at 8:50 AM on Thursday. Jodi @ www.meaningfulmama.com
