My very first Stitch Fix - help me decide!

I decided to jump on board the Stitch Fix bandwagon, and yesterday I received my first fix.

In case you don't know what Stitch Fix is, I'll give you a little intro.

You go to stitchfix.com and you create your style profile. (there's currently a waitlist, but it's not long at all!) Then the Stich Fix stylists hand pick 5 items for you to try on. They send the clothing pieces directly to your house, you try them on and decide what to keep (if anything) and then you send back what you don't want. Easy peasy.

The details:
  • There's a $20 styling fee, which you can use toward your order. (that's awesome!!)
  • If you keep all 5 items you receive 25% off your order.
  • You choose your price range
  • The more feedback you give on the pieces sent to you, the better they get over time. So be sure to be very specific to your stylists so that they can send you things you'll love.
Okay so here's the fun part, where I give you all a little fashion show. I apologize in advance for the crappy iphone photos and the even crappier lighting situation. I tried everything on at night before I went to bed. Next time I'll wait for daytime to show off my Stitch Fix items. lol.

I specifically asked them not to send me dresses or pants. I'm super particular with how those things fit, so I'm not quite sure I trust other people to send me the "right fits" with those items, yet. We'll see in the future, though.

Item #1: Terrace Striped Knit Split Back Top.
My thoughts: I like it, the colors are right up my ally. But I'm not sure I'll keep it. I think the split back is what ruins it for me. What do you think?

Item #2: Pauline Lace Detail Button up Shirt
My thought: I like this a lot. It's white, which is dangerous to wear when you have kids, but I like how summery it feels. And The detailing in the lace is really pretty (too bad you can't see it with my crappy pic, lol) I might keep this shirt.

Item #3: Pacey Crochet Trip Cotton Cardigan
My thoughts: Meh. At first I thought I'd love it because grey & white stripes?? My fave. But I didn't like putting it on and I am not a fan of things that "wrap". Not to mention that it was too big. Boo. So I say NO on this one.

Item #4: Zoya Swiss Dot Peter Pan Collar Top
My thoughts: DING DING DING, we have a winner! I LOVE this. First thing, it's mint (yay!). Second, it has a collar, and at first I wasn't sure about it, but after putting it on, I love it. I already had that creme colored layering tee on while I was trying stuff on, and I actually really like the way it looks under this collared tank. And the little dots add just a touch of detail. This is my favorite piece for sure!

Item #5: Multi Chain Layered Short Necklace
My thoughts: Not my style. So I'm not going to show a picture. Sowwy.

Okay overall, considering this is my first Stitch Fix, I'd say I give these items a B-. Besides the necklace and the cardigan, everything else was cute. I definitely found a couple of tops I really like, just have to decide which ones to keep. And, it was SO fun to recieve a box full of clothing goodies in the mail and have no idea what would be inside!! It's fun to have a personal shopper :-)

I'm going to be super specific on my feedback on all of these things, so hopefully they can continue to get to know my style and send things I'll love.

If you want to check out Stitch Fix, or sign up, here's a link for you! And if you're already signed up and have done a blog post on your Fix's, let me know, I'd love to see what you got!

My favorite is the last top. Second fave is the first top - I like that open back! But if you only want to keep one thing I would say the mint tank! Everyone is doing this now but I'm just way too picky to have someone else pick things out for me. Glad you are enjoying it!

ugh..my response methods are horrible..constantly deleting comments due to grammar mistakes! anyways, I say keep the mint! I've been trying to condense my closet into only "love" pieces and that one does it for me!! Hope that helps!

I agree about the split back, I don't like it. It actually reminds me of some flying bug. The lace one is okay, but I don't know if it's very flattering(it may just be the picture). I love -LOVE- the last one on you! Definitely a keeper! Also, I think this may be my first comment on your blog! *Waves Hi*

Alright I've been hearing about Stitch Fix but had no idea this is how the company worked. How cool! I'm with you on the shirt with the slit in the back, kind of odd. But the white one looks great. I had the same mom debate about wearing white this weekend. I say go for it and hope for the best :)

Hi there. I am a daily blog reader, but have never commented before. :) I really like the white lace top and the peter pan top as well. Both look really good on you.

Your post got me motivated to actually blog about the fix I received. I loved getting the surprise box in the mail. I really want to do it again too.

I need to try this sometime! I am curious, what price range did you give them for this box? My favorite is that mint shirt with the dots! It is so cute on you!

I always think I should sign up for something like stitch fix; I despise shopping.

The white one and the last one look great on you! The first one, with the split back, looks like casket clothing. Sorry if that's morbid, but that was my first impression of it.

Eh I'm not a fan of the first one either. I think the lace one would be cute with a colored tank under it or a fun necklace. also the mint green shirt was cute!
The wrap shirt reminded me of a weird maternity shirt/hospital gown lol.

I'm curious about prices too. I'm such a right wad and having a bigger chest I'm terrified of not liking anything and then losing out on my $20. Yup, I'm a cheapo :)

I don't like the split back top either, the peter pan collar shirt fits you fabulously!

I think you made the right choice on the mint. Hey just curious... what was the price range on the items?

I have heard about this and it seems so fun! I love these kinds of surprise boxes. I'm still a little worried about the investment, but I think I will eventually try it. The mint is a great choice!
