Adult Stuff

We've been super sick over here. On Sunday, Bennett woke up with a cold, and of course, Easton and I followed suit. It's not been fun. Whiny sick kids + a sick Mama = not a good combination. I have been up to some fun stuff & I wanna tell you all about it, but I just haven't had the time to blog the last few days.

But I have been thinking about how much my perspective on things has changed since becoming a Mom and also a Homeowner. The things that excite you and make you happy are totally different than you would have ever imagined.  You know what I mean?? Who would have thought shopping for little boy clothing and getting new carpet would make me all giddy inside?

We moved into our house almost 2 years ago, and since then, we haven't made even half of the changes we planned. With the exception of a little paint on the walls, it's pretty much exactly the same as when we moved in! But the minute we bought the house, I pretty much made my Husband promise that I I could replace the carpet in the family room. It was in really bad shape and I just couldn't handle it. Well, 23 months later, I finally made good on that promise.

I can't tell you how excited and happy I was when I finally picked out the carpet and got the installation date all set. I even vacuumed the old carpet one last time for good measure. ;-)

I'm pretty sure the carpet that was in there before was just a cheap builders grade carpet. And it showed stains and dirt tracks like WHOA. So I ordered Frieze carpet, which is multi-toned and textured, a much better choice for this area!! Hard to see the difference from this photo, but when you're standing in the room, it makes such a huge difference.

If you would have told me 10 years ago, even 5 years ago, that I would be this excited and satisfied because of new carpet, I would have laughed at you. It's the small things.

love! looks great :) so funny you wrote about this because we were talking about this over the weekend. we're waiting a couple years so the boys can dirty up our current carpet and get it out of their systems and then we'll do the upgrade of the fun squishy carpet. can't wait!!

It truly is the little things, my fall decor makes me so happy it's disgusting! And a clean house is beyond amazing!!!

Frieze carpet is the best. Nice choice.

I'm currently saving all of my pennies to replace our crappy carpet. I'm hoping for wood floors....but that's pretty ambitious now isn't it.

Growing up, my bedroom had neon blue carpet with holes in it, and the living room had puke green carpet. I have no idea what decade our home was originally carpeted in, but those were some interesting choice. Believe me, I was probably 7 years old when my parents bought new carpet, and even I was kind of excited about it!

Yay for new carpet!! We have horrible carpet in our house, it was whatever the previous owners had in here before we bought the house & ugh I HATE it. I can not wait to get nice, new, soft carpet! The things that make us happy as adults is so funny, I get excited over awesome vacuum cleaners, mops, etc. Things I never thought I would even care about.

Oh looks good! I love that things like this make adults happy. It makes me laugh though - when Nate and I moved into our apartment, his mom bought us a new washing machine and I was giddy. My how times change ;)

Haha I know what you mean. I just got married this summer and since we found our house, it actually makes me excited to clean and spend an entire day looking for one piece of decor. We rent and luckily the hardwood floors and carpets are all brand new or else I'd be obsessively looking at carpets (whether we bought a house or rented). It's so fun!

That must feel so nice! We've been in our house for 3 years and the to do list is still long. I would kill for new carpet and a new kitchen floor. But it's just so dang expensive that it's totally not a priority. I guess we'd rather go to Hawaii! Ha!

We got Frieze carpet installed 4 years ago and we love it! It still looks amazing. We decided to go on the darker side because of kids, but I love the color you chose. And I was just as excited as you were for new carpet, too :)
