This shop is a part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group and People StyleWatch and Instyle magazines but all opinions are my own. #pmedia #PeopleInStyle http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO
I cover quite a wide range of topics on my blog. Parenting, photography, recipes, blogging, sometimes I throw in a DIY, and little boy's fashion. But one thing I hardly every post about, is women's fashion & style. The closest I come to that is my Stitch Fix posts, but even then, it's a far cry from a good, solid fashion post.
That's not to say I don't love women's fashion, though, because I really really do. I just don't find myself to be very knowledgeable in that area, so I figure, who the heck wants to hear about that stuff from me? Ya know? But truth be told, I love to shop. I love wandering the stores and putting together the perfect outfit. If it's comfortable, extra points.
But the cherry on top, is when I can go shopping all by myself. No kids in the dressing room to distract, or unlock & open the door while I'm changing, inevitably embarrassing the heck out of me.
I decided to switch things up around here and try my hand as a fashion blogger for the day. But first, I need inspiration. So duh, I went into target. Alone. It was pure heaven.
I snatched myself up People StyleWatch and InStyle magazines, sat down with a hot cup of hot cocoa and started browsing the pages. I realize I won't ever look as good as the models in the magazine, but I can at least try and piece together an ensemble that looks semi-decent. Right?
And seriously, after spending a solid 30 minutes by myself with my warm drink and these magazines, I was pretty inspired to go and put together an outfit for my "What I Wore" or "Mama Wears" post, you pick the title. And I was pretty surprised at how many of the fashion trends fit right into what I would call my style. I saw open cardigans/sweaters, hats, boots... right up my alley! So I'd say that thus far, I kinda like being a fashion blogger... it's been a good day.
Next, I pulled together some things I thought were a great mixture of fashionable + comfortable. I'll be honest, comfort will trump being trendy any day. Hence the leggings as pants.
But the next part is what I wasn't so excited about: Getting photos of myself. Can't wait for my Husband to get home, because by the time he gets back from work, it's dark outside. So... looks like it's up to me to do this thing.
Picture this. Me + my tripod + crazy todder running around photo-bombing all of my pictures. Let me tell ya, I have a new found respect for fashion bloggers. Trying to get pictures of the outfit I put together was basically hilarious. I'm sure my neighbors had a good laugh watching me run back and forth, strike a ridiculous post, wrangle the toddler & repeat. For 30 minutes. But hey, that's the life. Right?

Truth? I have no idea what the heck to do with my hands except on my hips. So *queue* I'm desperately trying to do something different, so here goes the awkward-both hands-on-my-beanie pose. Meh.
And some of you said you wanted outtakes, so... here you go. Double chin for the win! Just keepin' it real guys.
But in all seriousness, I really do have a great time finding inspiration for what I wear. Which usually either comes from Pinterest, or magazines I browse through at the checkout line. Don't tell me you don't do that. Oh!! And right now, if you go to Target from 11/29-12/7 & buy People StyleWatch and InStyle magazines together, the cashier will give you a $5 gift card. So I say, go grab the magazines and use the $5 to get yourself a Starbucks drink and go get inspired!
