Christmas Spirit

I don't talk a lot about religious topics on my blog because my feelings are strong & personal and I tend to keep things that mean the most to me, very close to my heart. Seems kind of backwards, but that's always been how I've been. And a small part, is also that I realize this is a public place that people come to read, from all different backgrounds. And I want every single person to feel comfortable here. But at the same time, if there was ever a time that I would get a little religious on you... it's Christmas time. And maybe Easter, too.

Honestly, with how commercialized Christmas can get, sometimes it's hard to remember what Christmas it's REALLY all about. And that's celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Here's my perspective. You don't have to subscribe to any one religion, or even be religious at all to feel the amazing spirit that surrounds this holiday. And that spirit we feel, that gives us those warm, fuzzy feelings...is the spirit of selflessness & giving. I believe that spirit all stems from the pure love of Christ. His entire life was devoted to charity and service, he was a perfect example for us all. I'm so thankful for that.

So whether you celebrate Christmas for religious purposes, or for something else, I think we can all agree that Christmas is special because it brings out the best in everyone. I love watching people be a little more kind, compassionate, and giving throughout this season.

AND I'M WISHING YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! xoxo

Jesus is the reason for the season!

Amen, sister. I agree with Kiara - Jesus is the reason for the season, whether you're religious or not, or what you believe - He is the sole reason we celebrate and it has morphed into many other things. Merry Christmas!
