Gingerbread houses are for eating, anyway.

Sorry, but get ready to be blasted with all-things-Christmas over the next week or so. We've been doing holiday stuff like whoa. And if there's one time of year I'm going to document our little, mundane adventures, it will be around Christmas time. We're making memories here people.

Well. I don't know what went wrong, but, somehow our gingerbread house didn't exactly turn out well this year. lol. I have made those inexpensive little gingerbread houses with Bennett the past two years (2011 & 2012), and they've always stood up and stayed up.

But this year? Not so much. I mean, it was standing up at one point, like a house is supposed to. Here's proof.

And then... it just collapsed. lol. I don't think I let the frosting "set" long enough before we started messing with it! Plus, Bennett accidentally broke one of the roof pieces so we had to try and glue that together, too. The odds were against us from the start. But next year... I'll just use hot glue or buy a pre-made house. ;)

Didn't seem to matter at all, though. Bennett had a blast decorating his "cookies" as he called them. And I mean, the real point of doing this activity was to have a good time, and clearly, we did that. So I call it a success. Plus, kids don't care as long as they get to eat the candy along the way, right?  ;)

Did you all make gingerbread houses this year? Was yours a disaster like ours was?? lol.

He is so stinking cute! And I still think it's adorable how much fun he had, even with a collapsed gingerbread house :)

You and me both!! I think every post of mine this month has been something to do with Christmas, activities, crafts, adventures, etc. Just love this time of year! We are doing our Gingerbread Ninjas and Gingerbread house tonight! Love these pictures.

I haven't made a gingerbread house in at least a few years. I think this is a great thing to do now that my kids are a little bit older, they'd have so much fun! He's so cute, btw!

haha!! Last year I made my husband make a gingerbread house with me because he'd never done it before, and this year was my youngest sisters first time making one. We've never have them fully fall apart...although, just a day or two after we made our house, I found that my husband cut a hole in the back wall so that he could eat part of the cookie!!

It looks like he had a blast even if it did fall apart. The thought crossed my mind to do one with Brayden this year but I figured it would be a mess so I think we may just wait till next year to start this tradition in our house. Something I have always wanted to do with my own kids:)

Haha I'm awful at making gingerbread houses, so we're just focusing at getting really good at decorating Christmas cookies lol
