Happy 4th to my oldest boy!!!

Every January, I look back on the year and can't believe how quickly it went. I can hardly believe that my first born boy is Four. It just doesn't seem possible. But as they say,  "The days are long, but the years are short". So here we are.

Bennett, I would say that year's 2 & 3 were definitely tough ones. You are much like your Father & I, and show a lot of opinions, and of course, you aren't afraid to challenge us. Which isn't always a bad thing, and in fact will probably be an attribute for you later in life. But, somewhere in the last few months, a light switch got flipped and you have matured quite a bit. You went from the toddlerhood stage, to full blown kid mode. It's probably a combination of things that encouraged this change --  preschool, our parenting, your progress with your speech delays. But I have been so proud of the growth you've displayed this past year!! You have become so well behaved and have really started listening and following directions like a pro. I'm also so impressed with the strides you've made in your ability to adapt and settle into new surroundings and situations.

You definitely remain a super adventurous & curious little boy, being outside is where you thrive the most. I try to make sure to get you and your brother out as much as possible to let you roam and explore. I make it a point to take you to new places, so that you can always be exposed to different things! I could seriously follow you around all day as you just take in all that's around you!

Bennett, you are such a beautiful soul to be around. You have your moments, but for the most part, you do nothing but care about the people around you and genuinely want to be helpful and thoughtful. You have a purity about you that is so tender and heart-warming, and unlike much else I've experienced. I feel like a better person when you are around me, and luckily for me, I get to hang out with you quite a bit :) You are so so sweet with your little brother and cousins, it's so clear how much you love them. I just know that you will always be there for them when they need you.

It's hard to accurately describe who you are at 4 Years Old, because you are so unique, and so special to me.  But Bennett, know that you are so so important. You may only be a little boy, but you already touch so many people's lives with your effervescent personality. You inspire me, to want to be better for you. And that is the greatest achievement you can make in your life!

LOVE you so much my sweet boy!! Looking forward to this coming year, and all of the amazing experiences we'll have!!
