My new baby. The Polar FT4.

I'm about a month into this into this whole "fitness" thing, if you wanna call it that. And the reason I say that is because I'm not going ALL in. I'm doing the exercise thing 4-5 days a week, but I'm not paying crazy attention to my diet just yet. I'm the kind of person that needs to take baby steps.

Okay let me be honest real quick. I downloaded the MyFitnessPal App on my phone, thinking I'd be all 'Ya Let's Enter In All The Calories and Be On Top Of Everything'..... NO. Nope. Just not my jam right now, it's too much. So needless to say, I ditched the app already.

But here is what I did do. I bought one of these bad boys. The Polar FT4. Here's a little about it (via Amazon):
  • Provides continuous, accurate heart rate to keep your fitness training simple
  • Smart Calorie feature uses your personal data to provide accurate calories burned
  • Includes heart rate chest strap made of soft fabric material that adapts to your body shape. Requires and includes chest strap for accurate heart rate
  • User replaceable battery and water resistant (30m)
  • Connects with compatible gym equipment using GymLink
So although I'm not counting the calories going in, it's really nice to see what I'm burning when I work out. It definitely gives me a push to try and work that much harder. The higher the number, the better. It's actually exhilarating to watch my heart-rate go up & down based on my movement. And then once I'm finished with my workout, the watch not only tells me the calories I burned, but what my average heart-rate was, and how long I was "in zone" for. It's really awesome.

Also? I didn't think I'd like wearing the chest strap during my workouts, but it's actually so comfortable I don't even realize it's there most of the time.

Right before I hit the "purchase" button on this, I had a pink on in my shopping cart but I changed my mind last minute and got the bronze one instead. I'm kinda wishing now I got the green one, I like bright colors. Anyone wanna trade? lol

I highly, highly recommend getting one of these if you're exercising. It's really motivating and informative.

I have the pink one and it really does make me want to workout a little bit longer just to see the number go up! I really like the bronze one, although I haven't seen the green one.

I'm intrigued by the Polar watches, but I am afraid I don't want to know just exactly how many calories I'm NOT burning in my workouts. :)

i've been a runner/work out geek for years and in all the time, until recently, I've never had a HRM. I ordered one earlier this week...expecting it today or tomorrow. Looking forward to changing my routine and progress! Glad you are enjoying the whole fitness regime! I love it! Keeps my head focused, grounded and overall happy! Keep it up!

I love feeling inspired by you in my lazy, eat-all-the-things, pregnant state. :) Can't wait to feel motivation to get back into working out. Doesn't it just make a world of difference in how you feel emotionally?

I will have to look into this more and maybe ask for one for my birthday! This would definitely help motivate me as I work to lose the weight I've gained from my migraine meds. {connecting from The Love Nerds and SITS}

I have the pink one and I love it!!! I started using it about 9 months ago and it helped me with my weight. If you track your calories ingested and calories burned, it's really easy to loose weight. I'm not counting ingested calories anymore, but it's good to know how many calories you are burning while working out :)

I was so happy to be able to give one away! Winner will be announced tomorrow. :)
I just bought myself the FT7 :) can't wait to get it!

I live on MFP! My goal is to get into a routine so I know longer need to count calories because My body will be able to give me signs when enough is enough! But I totally agree with you. Baby steps all the way. You are more likely to succeed when you only take on what you can handle.

I ordered the FT7 and it's on its way to me now, can't wait! I was hoping to get it before my Monday zumba class, but stupid snow has the shipment delayed. So excited to start tracking my efforts.

I used the myfitness pal app for several weeks. I really liked it until I realized it was sucking up all of the data on the phone plan. I ditched it too. I know what and how to eat, it's my fitness that needs help. I am still on the fence about what to get to motivate some movement.

Ooooh, aaah. I'm using fitness pal but just as a ways to pay attention to my food choices. Of course, I've been sick and haven't logged in for 2 weeks... time to get back on board!

First off, you look fab! And I love reading this review, I've always wanted to get one of these things and wondered if it was worth it. Of course, right now, it wouldn't be worth too much since I'm expecting my next baby in a few weeks haha. But definitely going to try to get back on track after he comes! Maybe we can motivate each other :) Nice to *meet* ya, Mandy!!

I have the same exact one, but you probably already know that by now. Haha! I love mine, too!! It's such a motivating factor to me to see that I am actually burning.
