Independence Day 2014

Since having kids, I like to keep things simple around the 4th of July. No fussy trips to crowded venues or anything like that. Well, not yet at least. Once the kids get a little older, I'd love to take them to Gasworks Park for the fireworks display, but for now, I prefer to hang out around home with family and close friends.

We had my Sister's family over, my Mom and our best friends and their family over for some BBQ, and just let the kiddos run around the back yard and play in the pool. Around 7pm, we took the kids out front to do a few little fireworks we got. And I was going to attempt to keep my kids up until dark to watch the big, awesome fireworks that my neighborhood does, but sadly, they both broke down around 9:30 and went to bed right as things were getting started. Ah well, maybe next year!]]

We're actually really lucky to live in a place where people LOOOOOVE the 4th of July. Our neighborhood goes all out, it seriously sounds like a war zone here on the 4th. Honestly, I don't mind at all. The kids sleep right through it, and I don't have to go anywhere to see a good show :)

Oh oh! And we actually got a photo with all four of us in the same frame! That hardly ever happens anymore ;-)

How was your 4th of July weekend?! Tell me how you celebrated?
