It's hard to believe that we're already into August! Is school really starting NEXT month?? I am actually really sad about it. I've enjoyed the Summer, having no schedule, and just being able to do whatever I want with the kids. Once September hits, we'll be back to routines, schedules and things tend to get busier.
Not to mention, being a WAHM (work at home mom) amidst all of the chaos, can be really difficult sometimes. I feel like the things I really need to get done always take a back-burner, therefore leaving me stressed out sometimes. And that's all on top of the every day frustrations that come with being at home with my kiddos. I mean, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my situation for anything -- but it doesn't mean that it's any less challenging.
I do, however, have a few tricks that help me keep my sanity in tact.
One // Netflix
At the end of a long, exhausting day full of exercise, errands, cleaning and chasing kids around -- nothing is more relaxing than curling up on the couch with a good show. Currently, my Husband and I are binge watching Supernatural. But we've also watch American Ninja Warrior, So You Think You Can Dance, The Voice, The Walking Dead, The Killing and Faceoff!
Two // Blogging
This is pretty self-explanatory but blogging is such an outlet for me. Being able to sit down with my computer and an ice cold drink -- and just type out my feelings or frustrations, is such a relief. Definitely puts me back on track after a chaotic day!
Three // Rizzmic (exercise)
I discovered Rizzmic (an American Dance Fitness format) almost 2 years ago. I absolutely love it. I grew up in the dance studio, so Rizzmic is a perfect way for me to not only get in a fabulous work out, but to bring me back to life when I'm feeling a little crazy. I also mentioned in a previous post that I've recently gotten my Instructor certification, so now I'm TEACHING Rizzmic, and it has been so so good for my mental well-being. Being able to focus on the choreography, and teaching my class makes my soul so happy.
Four // Pedicures
Well, let's just face it... being pampered is lovely, yes? Sometimes when my Husband comes home and I've had a particular rough day, he will kick me out of the house for a pedicure. Yes, sir. No complaints here. I always come home feeling much better, and I have pretty nails, too. ;-)
Five // Delicious Indulgences
What is it about super yummy food that can snap us right back to reality? I feel so much better when I allow myself to eat what I want! I head to Walmart and snatch up these Nestle Skinny Cow Ice Cream Salted Caramel Pretzel Bars, and the Dreamy Clusters. Trust me, they are just the thing I need when I'm totally out of my mind with stress.

Truly, of all the things that keep my sane during those busy phases, is allowing myself to eat something like this. Lately, Ive been kind of hard on my self when I am not eating perfectly, but with something like this, I feel totally fine snacking on an ice cream bar or these milk chocolate clusters. Good for my taste buds, and good for my sanity :)

I'm with you on all of those!!
I love it!! Blogging is such a great outlet for me and helps relax me. Oh and I need some kind of dessert every night :)
I'm not even a mom and I agree with you on ALL of these, sista!
Blogging definitely does it for me. Also, cooking. I love to just throw things together, it makes me so happy!
amen to blogging, netflix, ice cream, and pedicures! some of my most favorite things :)
Chocolate always makes everything better. It truly is the great panacea.
I think my five are blogging, church, surrounding myself with happy people, drinking tea, and humor. Humor is my way of venting things that drive me insane without being so negative about it.
That looks delicious! Loved this post. So important to take care of us mamas too!
I totally agree!! I a wonderful list. How neat that you are teaching Rizzmic! I love learning about new dance-based workout programs. Anything to make working out fun is a plus in my book! :)
Yep! These are all great ideas. The ice cream looks so good. I would definitely think that is a good way to end a long stressful day!
Blogging is something that keeps me sane too. I love that dancing is what brings you peace. For me, it's definitely music.
Yes on all these parts! Though I tend to do yoga instead of anything high intensity - glad you're having fun with Rizzmic though! I've actually never heard of it, so I may need to look into it?
I never realized what an outlet blogging could be until I started doing it! Definitely a release for me as well.
What is this Rizzmic thing you speak of?! I'm so intrigued!!!!
I love all these things! Perfect ways to keep yourself sane!
My R&R tips include just relaxing and taking the day in and going with the flow, could be a walk, blogging, shopping or even watching movies
I can relate to all of those - except Rizzmic. Never even heard of it! Is it like Jazzercize?
I can definitely relate to all these things! I'm not ready for the kids to start school again either. :( love having them around during the day. - I'd have to adfront porch sitting"
The Walking Dead is my aboslute fave. I also watched The Killing on Netflix and was so sad when there were no more episodes :( Have you tried the mini Magnum ice cream bars?! PERFECT to eat while on a Netflix binge :)
Ok, those ice cream bars look absolutely amazing. I am a big believer in using some chocolate / coffee to get through the day!
SALTED CARAMEL PRETZEL BARS?!?!?! These exist?!?! I need to go shopping now. Those are seriously calling my name... I can hear them ;)
I love your idea of keeping your sanity! I usually do everything except Pedicures (I do them myself, though - does that count?!)!
OH GOOD GRIEF! I want that pretzel bar...like NOW!!
Ice cream and popcorn, my weaknesses - and also sanity keepers as you mentioned. Yum, man. Imagine watching a movie, eating an ice cream WHILE getting a pedicure. I should open up shop, sounds like an awesome plan hahaha
Sounds good to me. Ice cream pedicures, and Netflix sound like a perfect day.
I hear ya on the Netflix! We just got into House of Cards and it's pretty addicting. With our baby girl due any day now, I'm sure we will have lots of nights at home to get into other Netflix shows too. Xo
I would have to agree with you! All 5 would be at the top of my list too.
Skinny Cow is my FAVORITE. Yum. I feel like I need to get some tonight to stock back up.
Those Skinny Cow bars look delicious! Isn't Supernatural the best? I am freaking out about next month and how overwhelming it's all going to be, going back to work and Bobby starting school.... I think I need to treat myself to a pedicure!
ok, all of these are total yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes!! i've never heard of rizzmic, but i'm really intrigued! i love dancing...it sounds fun!
Blogging, exercise and pedicures would be my top 3 ways too! I also really love curling up with a book and hot tea at night.
I think small indulgences and working out is what really keeps me sane too! I pay for childcare at the gym so I feel safe but also so I can get some time to think about me.
Skinny Cow is my OBSESSION. And I've never heard of Rizzmic, but it sounds awesome! I'll have to look for it around here.
I completely agree with all of these and love the skinny cow stuff. They have some ice cream sandwiches that are SO delicious!
love all of these! pedicures are such a guilty pleasure, and those skinny cow ice cream bars look yummy!
Love this list! I agree chocolate always makes everything better.
I love this list!! I definitely agree that blogging is a wonderful outlet for staying sane!!
ooh pedicure!! i haven't gotten one in a month almost!! that's so nice your husband sends you out for pedicures haha i love it!
Great list. I love blogging and Netflix. I really need a pedicure.
These are all great ways to keep your sanity! I'm going to have to check out the Rizzmic... this is my first time ever hearing about it!
