Favorite Friend

A conversation (more like a questionnaire) that I had with Bennett the other day chocked me up. It was a simple, sweet set of questions I was asking him while I was making lunch, but it really tugged at my heart strings.

"What's your favorite animal"
"Giraffe"

"What's your favorite color?"
"Green"

"What's your favorite food?"
"Sandwiches"

"What's you're favorite thing to drink?"
"Lemonade"

"Who's your favorite friend?"
"....my Brother"

I could tell that he was being 100% sincere. And he hopped off the counter, ran to go over and give Easton a hug and kiss on the forehead. I have to admit, I didn't expect him to say "my Brother" when I asked him who his favorite friend was. He's never answered that way before.

They are just over 2 years apart, and let's be real, they fight a lot. It bothers me to see them bickering so much, but it's obviously to be expected with 2 & 4 year olds. I think that as a Mom of multiple kids, one of my biggest dreams was that my two boys would grow up being best friends. To be able to count on each other, and to love one another unconditionally. And at the end of the day, after a ton of fighting and screaming at each other, if my 4 y/o can answer that his Brother is his favorite friend, I think I got my wish.

I can't help but feel a little mushy (okay a lot mushy) when my kids look at each other with admiration, and treat and talk about one another tenderly. I really try to savor those moments....

.....because I know that their sibling relationship will go through ups & downs. But-- I really do think that they will always be each others favorite friend. ❤ And one day, they will be able to look back on these blog posts and be reminded of these moments and how they felt about each other! ❤

I so hear you on this! With four girls, I swear all day long it's fighting fighting fighting. But at the end of the day they always choose each other, which is just the sweetest thing ever.

My brother is my favorite friend too. We're about a year and a half apart, but he's undoubtedly my favorite person. I'd be so lost without him. It must be the most amazing feeling in the world when you see that your children really love each other.

I love this! It's also my prayer that Jem and Max be besties! We have our fair share of bickering, but it's evident that they truly love each other. Melts my mama heart!
