Christmas 2014 - Recap!

I'm not sure how we're already closing out 2014, I feel like this past year especially, has just raced by me! But here we are, another Christmas has come and gone! We celebrate with my immediate family, and that's pretty much it. So our Holiday is usually super mellow, which I very much enjoy. I do feel bad, though, because, unfortunately, after my Husband's sister and her family moved down to California, he doesn't have any family here anymore. And I know that it can be very hard for him to be away from them, but I think we are going to try and go down to Idaho next tear so that he can be near his family for Christmas :)

Whoops, I got totally off track. We kept our tradition of making Gumbo and Cannoli's on Christmas Eve.... well I should say that Philip made it. He's a much better cook than I am. But oh my goodness, gumbo is so delicious!! He was born in Louisiana, so the gumbo is like a throwback to his old roots I think. I had never really had cajun food until we got married, but I'm definitely into it now! Also on Christmas Eve, we drove around and looked at Christmas lights, and then came home and decorated a ginger bread house. Check out this ridiculously awesome house we went and saw:

Christmas day, the kids actually slept in, which was the best present of all ;-) My Mom came over, and then we made our way downstairs and they opened their stockings, which we loaded up with all-things Ninja Turtles. We made a big, yummy breakfast, and then we tore into the rest of the presents. My kids aren't really the type to want to open them all at once. They move really slowly because as soon as they open something, they want to play with it immediately. So presents took a while... I don't think we finished until 11:00 or so. But it was kind of nice to just have a super relaxing morning and take our time with things.

Later, my sister and her family popped over for a few more presents and that was it for our Christmas. We didn't plan any meals (other than breakfast), so for dinner, we got Chinese takeout. Just keepin' it classy guys.

How was your Christmas!? What was your favorite dish/dessert? What was the best gift you received?

It looks like it was a great day and sometimes that slow pace is the best!! Makes the gifts last longer. We were done pretty quickly but it was a great day anyways. We had Chinese food in Xmas eve and do so every year!!
