February Coastal Getaway

Things have been quiet around here, and I feel like that's sorta been a trend lately. I'm in a place in my life where things continue to get busier and more hectic, but in the best way possible. And honestly, it's hard to find time to sit down and write. But today, here I am :)

I feel so lucky to live where I do. I mean, don't get me wrong, I whine and complain quite a bit about the grey clouds and rain that go along with living in the Seattle area. But at the same time, there is greenery everywhere, towering mountains every direction you look, lakes, cities, farms... everything. There really is something for everyone. The best part? I live only a couple of hours from the Washington Coast. I mentioned before that my Mom bought a house on the beach, and I have taken every possible opportunity to go down there with my kids. It's the kind of place that lends itself to new traditions and lifelong memories. It really doesn't get any better.

This past weekend (and monday & tuesday) we took a trip out to Ocean Shores. The first day we got there, is was windy and a tiny bit chilly. Which is to be expected throughout winter time in the pacific northwest. But toward the last half of the trip, we had ridiculously warm and sunny weather. Like, I was having a hard time believing it was actually mid-February. The boys were running around the beach in their swim trunks and bare feet. Incredible, is what it was. I was on cloud nine. It's crazy what a little warmth and sunshine will do for your sanity. ;-)

We were there with my Mom, my Sister and my Nephew and so much fun was had. We splashed around the beach, built sand castles, did some kite flying, went to the arcade, took a ride on the bumper boats, climbed rocks, went shopping, and witnessed some of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen. So glad I made a point to cart around my "big girl camera" everywhere with me!!

I love the boys' "bite me" jackets. haha so cute!
And I'm loving the new look on your blog. I don't know how "new" it is but I just noticed it and I love it! :) I would love a professional blog facelift. I try everything myself and I'm not really that great lol

I love the pics of your coastline! I'm in Fl, west coast side, and it seems so strange to see the kiddos all bundled up and at the beach!

Awesome pictures! I lived in Seattle one summer and although it wasn't the right place for me to live, I do have to say that it can be quite beautiful!

Looks and sounds like Seattle is amazingly beautiful! I live in California, and I too get tired of living here. I'm ready for a country living feel.. Maybe I'll have to visit Seattle sometime since I have family out there. :) happy blogging!

I loved going to Ocean Shores in high school, it is the perfect family weekend spot - or even a full week!

That's good that you're focusing on the positive. I can't stand to even vacation somewhere where the sun doesn't shine daily for even a week haha...but as a result I live in a desert and its kind of ugly lol. Gorgeous pictures in this post!
