8 Ways To Manage Stress

It seems that no matter how hard I try, there is always something weighing on my mind. There is always another problem that comes up, or decision that needs to be made. Honestly, adulting is hard work, right? Thankfully we have a vacation coming up soon, so that should help me to decompress a little. But when we're stressed and need an outlet, vacations aren't realistic most of the time. Least not for me. ;-)

But over the years, I have learned some of the ways to combat the stress I feel. It's not always possible to do all of these things all of the time, but even if I can manage some of them, it helps a lot. Most of these these ideas are fairly obvious, but at the same time, most are also easy to forget & let fall by the wayside. And then stress and anxiety can creep in and take over, then no one is happy. I just have to keep reminding myself of this list, and when I'm making an effort to manage my stress, I'm a much more positive person to be around.

Exercise regularly
I know this is a tough one for a lot of people, because exercising can be so tiring & so daunting. But the benefits far outweigh the hassle. It's amazing how good I feel when I leave the gym after a good work out, I feel like an immediate weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Get enough sleep
Yah yah, I know, this is nearly impossible when you have kids & a never-ending to-do list. Not to mention that when I finally get some time to myself at the end of the day, I don't want to go to sleep. I wanna curl up on the couch with Netflix and some snacks. ;-)

Manage your time wisely
A huge cause of stress? Not managing my time well (re: sitting and watching Netflix instead of finishing the projects I started). Time management isn't something that comes easily to me, but when I nail it, I'm much happier.

Relaxation techniques
This looks different for everyone, and you need to find what works for you. Whether it's some sort of meditation, a long soak in a warm bath, reading a good book, or maybe getting your nails done? Whatever works to help you relax, DO IT.

Find someone that you trust that you can talk to
After a long and stressful day, sometimes all I need to do to feel better is vent a little. Talking it out really does help, a lot. It's beneficial to me to be able to unload my mind, and bounce ideas off of someone else. Don't be afraid to reach out to someone you love & trust, I'm sure they will be happy to offer a friendly ear!
